Theme: IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THE RIGHTEOUS

Text: “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noon day.” – Psalm 37:5, 6.

Comment: The righteous are never forsaken. If only their confidence in the Almighty God remains unshaken, their desires are granted. This was vividly illustrated in the story of Hannah whose sorrow/reproach was replaced with boundless joy and honour by the Almighty God. Hannah was one of the two wives of Elkanah. The other was Peninnah. Though Hannah was barren, she was her husband’s favourite. Hannah knew and believed that God Almighty would give her the desires of her heart.  Into the temple she went and in the bitterness of her soul, she made her request known to God. (1 Samuel 1:9-11) The priest Eli mistook her to be drunk which she humbly debunked. The priest was impressed by her godly disposition and brilliant answer. She showed a humble spirit and wisdom. In God’s due time her prayer was answered. She conceived and bore a son whom she named Samuel. It is to her credit that she did not resort to idols, witches or wizards but turned to God with steadfastness. She proved to be godly, and faithful. – Matthew 21:22; Psalm 37:4-7; Isaiah 8:20.
