THE SIGNIFICANCE OF A GOOD PERSONAL IDENTITY
Text: “So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” – 2 Chronicles 20:20.
Comment: “The Lord of hosts” is a Man of war (Amos 5:27; 9:5); God’s prophets are shown the future to forewarn His people to keep them safe. At a time, King Jehoshaphat was strengthened by the words of a Prophet of God; hence, he encouraged the people. They trusted in God, believed His Prophet, and thus prospered in war without having to fight. (2 Chronicles 20:20-25) Holy prophets of God are faithful witnesses who would not lie (Proverbs 14:5), unlike false prophets whose deceit lead multitudes to destruction, Prophet Micaiah told the king that he would not return in peace. The king, in anger, put him in jail, but he died in that war (2 Chronicles 18:12-34). Apostle John warned Christians against the antics of false prophets in 1 John 4:1.
