Text: “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24,25.
Comment: True, the Sacred Volume makes no provision for working out salvation by proxy, that is, serving God Almighty on behalf of one’s neighbor or relative, but it gives allowance for helping ourselves by being one another’s keeper. Through wise counsel, correction, rebuke, (where necessary) admonition, etc., we carry ourselves along, by God’s grace.
St. Paul in today’s guide, proceeded to specify one aspect of good works, which is, regular attendance to Church gatherings. It is through such gatherings we hear words that build faith, (Romans 10:17) share in spiritual fellowship, (Psalm 133:1) and above all, fulfil God’s expectation from us. – Isaiah 2:3; Zephaniah 2:1-3; Zechariah 8:21.
