Theme: THE SIGNICANCE OF THE NAMES AND TITLES OF GOD ALMIGHTY

Text: “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” – Deuteronomy 32:4.

Comment: God Almighty is known as the Rock because He provides refuge to His people. In the face of several persecutions from the devil, the people turn to their Maker for safety and protection and peace. Naaman, after wasting so much money seeking help to cure his leprosy, found the answer to his troubles in Israel, so much so that he proclaimed: “Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.” – 2 Kings 5:15.

There was a time the Syrian army surrounded where Elisha was staying because he was revealing to the king of Israel what the king was discussing in his bedroom. When the servant of Elisha saw that they were surrounded by chariots and horsemen, he shouted but the man of God calmed him down, saying: “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” When, following the prayer of Elisha, the LORD, opened his eyes,  “he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:15-17) Again when the Philistines made war against Israel, God enabled the Israelites to give them a resounding defeat. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim…” (2 Samuel 5:19-21) “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.” – Psalm 62:7.
