Theme: THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE

Text: “For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.”  – Ecclesiastes 7:12

Comment: There is no denying the fact that it is the knowledge of God that imbues one with strength, courage and insight that are beyond human understanding.  This is because God Almighty, the Ancient of Days, gives true knowledge to His people. James the apostle of Christ knew that God Almighty is the Repository of knowledge that is why he directed worshippers to the Creator for knowledge. (James 1:5) Solomon, the wisest man in his days, spoke of a poor wise man, who by his wisdom delivered a city which had been besieged by enemies. Therefore he declared, “…Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard”.  (Ecclesiastes 9:13-18) When the people of Nineveh had knowledge of their evil ways and God’s impending anger on them, they repented and were spared by God. – Jonah 3:1-10.

Those who hold the word of God in contempt do so to their own detriment. And God said: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”, adding that “because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6)  Since God Almighty has the power to save and to destroy,  it is only those who do His will that He will give life.
