Theme: DEMANDS OF TRUE DISCIPLESHIP

Text: “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?  He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” – Psalm 15:1,2.

Comment: One of the requirements for those to be favoured by God to remain in His Holy Organization till the end and be blessed is truthfulness at all times.  God Almighty, Our Heavenly Father is a God of truth and hates a lying tongue. – Deuteronomy 32:4;  Proverbs 6:16-19; etc.

Jesus Christ the founder of Christianity is the truth personified.  He himself declared: “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me” (John 14:6).  St. Peter admonishing Christians on the sterling qualities of Jesus Christ stated: “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:  Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth” – 1 Peter 2:21,22.

As true worshippers of God, we are enjoined to be truthful to one another.  “These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates” –  Zechariah 8:16; See also Ephesians 4:15.

The unfortunate consequence of lie-telling as could be seen in the case of Ananias and Saphira who told lies in the service of God should serve as a check for us to desist from such an abominable act. – Acts 5:1-10;  Proverbs 12:17,19.
