Theme: DEALING WITH OUR DOUBTS AND FEARS

Text: “And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.” – Luke 12:29.

Comment: The fear of hunger has pushed many down the road of ruin, danger and death, not necessarily because there is no food to eat at all, but that man wants more and more from life. The urge to meet up with societal standards of living, the want to enjoy the pleasures that life has to offer, the pressure of the apparent wealth displayed by others, the dream to be accepted in certain circles and so on, threatens the faith of some. In the parable of the Sower, Christ our Lord explained the seed that fell among thorns thus: “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.” -Matthew 13:22.

Christ said Luke 12:27,28, 30,31 ‘Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?  For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.’ (Compare Psalm 100:3)
