Theme: Casting All Our Burden On The Lord

Text: “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”. – Psalm 30:5.

Comment: The burden of worry and anxiety because of an unfulfilled desire sometimes chokes us one with emotions and brings tears to the eyes. Such was the case of the woman, Hannah, one of the wives of Elkanah. Her inability to conceive made her sad, and she wept sore when her mate Penninah made mockery of her. Hannah being a godly woman, went to the House of God to pray to God for a son and accompanied it with a vow. Thereafter, she felt relieved as “her countenance was no more sad” as she had handed her worry to God in prayer.  God answered her prayers, granted her conception and she gave birth to a son she named Samuel, (meaning “Asked from God”). (1 Samuel 1:19, 20) Hannah in turn fulfilled her vow to God by presenting Samuel to Eli the Priest to serve God all the days of his life. – 1 Samuel 1:24-28.

God showed his favour on Hannah again by granting her the grace to conceive and give birth to an additional three sons and two daughters, totaling six children. (1Samuel 2:20-21) King David truly said that God is the Giver of children,  and that He will make the barren woman a joyful mother of children. – Psalm 127:3; 113:9.
