Text: “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” – 2 Timothy 2:3.
Comment: One of the virtues of a soldier is “fortitude”, that is, courage. In the text under reference, Apostle Paul encourages believers to learn to endure hardship without losing faith, without doing things that will offend God. In times of trial, some people waver because of fear. The work of God is a spiritual warfare that requires the spiritual armour as Saint Paul declared in Ephesians 6:11-12. So, we are encouraged to put on the whole armour of God so that we can stand against the devil’s schemes. A true soldier of Christ will not run to the god of this world in times of problems, but will continue to trust in God, Who is “a very present help in trouble”. – Psalm 46:1.
