Theme: THE DANGER OF TALE BEARING AND RASH JUDGMENT

Text: “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.” – Proverbs 26:20.

Comment: It is very obvious from the text of today’s guide that a lot of troubles, divisions, and bitterness would not grow beyond the starting point if talebearers and busybodies do not have access to the stories. As illustrated, if a fire is kindled and there are no woods to sustain or boost the fire, it goes off in no time. So talebearers and busybodies are woods that make little issues become big, thereby causing rancour, bitterness, and quarrel among brethren, friends, family members, etc. In Proverbs 26:22 it is stated, “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly”. “A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.” (Proverbs 16:28) Those who engage in such acts will incur the anger of God if they do not desist from their evil acts. (Romans 1:32) As much as possible, let us be such Christians that if any gossip or false story gets to us, it dies a natural death. Those peddling these false stories will avoid us because they know that we will expose them.
