Text: “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”- Psalm 50:14,15
Comment: We should always have the conviction that with God all things are possible as He stated in Jeremiah 32:27,17. In verse 21 of Matthew chapter 21, Jesus Christ stated: “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” Even in the midst of adversity, one could make a vow to God. We should however bear in mind the warning of Solomon the prophet: “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.” (Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5) While Jacob was on his way to meet his mother’s brother, made a vow saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God.” (Genesis 28:20, 21) The success of Jacob’s mission is now a matter of Biblical and world history. The Lord does for us even more than we ask of Him. – Ephesians 3:20, 21.
