Theme: Some Noble Christians of the Bible

Text: “Now this I say, that everyone of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 1:12.

Comment: Apollos was a Jew, born at Alexandria in Egypt known for his eloquence and spiritual might in dispensing the gospel. (Acts 18:24,25) He spoke boldly in the synagogue and this brought him in contact with Aquila and Priscilla who expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly (Verse 26) “He mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. (Verse 28) His powerful scriptural confutations with the Jews at Corinth was of great benefit to the brethren so much that Paul in his letter to the Corinthian congregation said: “I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” (1 Corinthians 3:6) However, when Satan in his characteristic nature brought division to the Corinthian Church, St. Paul reminded them that Christ is not divided and emphasized unity and oneness in the Church.  – 1 Corinthians 3:4-9,21,22.
