Theme: INTEGRITY

Text: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit” – Isaiah 14:12-15.

Comment: Pride is a destructive vice demeaning of one’s integrity: King Solomon summed it up thus, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverb 16:18) God Almighty endowed Lucifer with radiant beauty, powers, and authority over the earth; his heart was lifted up to usurp God’s authority, even in heaven (Ezekiel 28:12-19; 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4). “Mount Zion, on the sides of the north”, is God’s dwelling place, “the mountain of His Holiness”. (Psalm 48:1-3; 50:2) Lucifer’s thoughtless ambition cost him access to heaven as he was cut down to the earth. (Revelation 12:8-12) Let us not allow pride to corrupt or ruin our integrity in the service of God. David, the Psalmist wrote, “Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish…” – Psalm 49:12, 20.
