Theme: PROMOTION

Text: “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them… A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.” – Proverbs 11:3, 16

Comment: According to the Scriptures, integrity is a safe guide to those who have it.  “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me”, so said David, the Sweet Psalmist of Israel (Psalm 25:20, 21).  Unfortunately, this is not the prayer of some students in the school system today.  They are aware that immoral or corrupt teachers want gratification in order for them to be favoured with awards of good marks during examinations and be promoted.  No true Christian student should accept short cuts to success.

A male or female student who fails in an examination but maintains a high standard of morals is much a better person than the one who passes at the expense of his/her chastity.  Students and teachers who indulge in such corrupt practices, though may not be seen or known to man, will certainly give account of themselves to God Who sees and knows all things except they repent and refrain from it. (Hebrews 4:13;  2  Chronicles 16:9;  2 Corinthians 5:10 etc).  What the student should do is to be devoted to serious studies, to be regular to classes, doing all assignments diligently, and praying earnestly for God’s help by His grace.  The promotion or honour that comes from God goes with clear conscience and fills one with satisfaction.  To be worthy of such promotion one must be God-fearing. ”A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.”  – Proverbs 28:20.
