Theme: TO DO GOOD AND TO COMMUNICATE, FORGET NOT

Text: “And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.” – Ruth 2:2.

Comment: After the departure of Orpah, the wife of Mahlon, Naomi’s son, Ruth decided to stick with Naomi saying, “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” (Ruth 1:16) Though, she knew the poor condition of her mother-in-law, she empathized with her and offered to go to the farm to pick left-over crops for their living. Recognizing her kind-heartedness, humility and devotion to duties, Naomi ensured that Ruth acquainted herself with Boaz, the rich farm owner and kinsman to Elimelech, her late husband. Ruth acted accordingly to this “match-making” by her mother-in-law. Boaz was delighted with her conduct as he said, “I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.” Although Boaz was a Jew, he later married Ruth, the Moabitess, thus from that union and lineage our Lord, Jesus Christ was born. – Ruth 3:1-15; 4:1-22; Matthew 1:1-6.
