Theme: ANGER: ITS CAUSES, EFFECTS, CONSEQUENCES AND MANAGEMENT
Text: “Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” – Psalm 30:4, 5.
Comment: God had made man upright, but man fell by disobedience and now wallows in iniquity, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. In exercise of His loving-kindness and mercy, God sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be a propitiation for our sins (Ecclesiastes 7:29; Romans 1:25; 3:23-25). To those who do not delight in iniquity, God extends His loving-kindness and mercy. He will not justify the obstinate or recalcitrant sinner, but will surely punish him. Prophet Micah wrote under the inspiration of God, “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.” (Micah 7:18). In remembrance of God’s holiness and wonders, Moses led the Jews in a victory song, “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” – Exodus 15:11; see also Exodus 34:6, 7.
