Text: “And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.” – 1 Kings 10:10.
Comment: The solemnity of Solomon’s righteous disposition in soliciting for divine help in his new role as king of Israel attracted abundance of riches, honour and wisdom from the LORD. His fame went beyond the boundaries of Israel as the queen of Sheba confessed: “It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard. (1 Kings 10:6, 7) The Holy Bible shows that “she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones” in support of the work of God. In return, “king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty.” (1 Kings 10:10-13) Scripture states: “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” (Proverbs 11:25) Her kindness drew the favour of God on her.
