Theme: THE SIGNICANCE OF THE NAMES AND TITLES OF GOD ALMIGHTY

Text: “Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” – John 6:27

Comment:  The word father means one who gives life, one who establishes, founds or originates something. God Almighty is the Owner of life and is responsible for the existence of all creatures, spirit and human. St. Paul referred to God Almighty as the Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9) because He is the Creator of all spirit beings, who dwell in the heavens.  – Psalm 33:6; 103:20.

In his famous lecture at Athens, St. Paul stated that, “For in him we live, and move…” (Acts 17:28) The Bible further states that in the hand of God “is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind”. (Job 12:9, 10) He gives life to all living things here on earth.  That was why Moses referred to the Father as “the God of the spirits of all flesh”. (Numbers 16:20-22; Numbers 27:15, 16)   Christ said, “But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”- Luke 12:5.

We should ponder over this statement of Apostle Paul in Hebrews 12:9, where he says: “Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?” – Hebrews 12:9.
