Text: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” – Proverbs 28:13.
Comment: The need for regular reappraisals of ourselves as we run the race of salvation lies at the very core of true discipleship. (1 Corinthians 11:31, 32) Sometimes, one may be engrossed in a particular sin while living under the illusion that he is doing the right thing. (Proverbs 14:12) This deception is at the instance of the devil. (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4; John 8:44) Those who have identified with the true way are duty bound to give themselves to constant studies of the Scriptures in order to receive God’s approval. (2 Timothy 2:15) They should take stock of themselves on regular intervals to ascertain if they are living up to the biddings of God’s word (2 Corinthians 13:5, 6) and above all give themselves to prayers, fervently. – 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 18; Isaiah 55:7; Lamentation 3:40.
