Theme: ANXIETY

Text: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23:1-3.

Comment: The “LORD” as used in the text for today, refers to no other person but JEHOVAH the Almighty God Who is known as the “God of gods, and Lord of lords”. –  Deuteronomy 10:17; Exodus 6:3.

Literally, a shepherd is one who takes care of sheep. He (the Shepherd), sometimes goes to distant and lonely places to provide food for the sheep. Spiritually speaking, God Almighty is our great Shepherd. King David who saw a lot of things while he was taking care of his father’s sheep, says in the text for today, that our Heavenly Father is our Great Provider. He (GOD) himself stated: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” – Isaiah 45:22.

King David’s faith in God was such that when a lion and a bear came to attack his father’s flock, he went after them and took the sheep out of their mouths and finally killed them. One who knows what it means to take food out of the mouth of the lion will appreciate what happened. Worshippers of God should always put absolute trust in God’s protection so that He will always continue to protect us by his grace.

The sweet psalmist of Israel declared: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” –  Psalm 37:25.
