Text: “Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? …” – Micah 6:6.
Comment: Beyond oral expression of gratitude to our heavenly Father, the best form of appreciation His creatures owe Him, is the sincere and consistent practice of His righteousness. The Prophet Micah stated: “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8) We cannot genuinely claim to be appreciative of God’s care on us while still indulging in sin. This James the apostle terms “deceiving your own selves”. (James 1:22) More-so, transgression of God’s laws brings avoidable consequences on one. To do “justly” implies doing the righteousness of God. This way, we avail ourselves of more of His blessings, by His grace. To “walk humbly” also involves contrition when in error. – See Psalm 51:17; Isaiah 57:15; 66:2.
