Theme: The Love of Money
Text: “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” – Galatians 6:8.
Comment: To “sow” ordinarily is to disperse or plant seeds. In the spiritual context, it is in reference to our exertions, labour of love or efforts put into God’s service by way of working out our own salvation. One who does this is said to be sowing to the Spirit. In contrast, one sows to the flesh by doing things that seek to gratify carnal desires, which at the end will not secure one God’s blessings but wrath. The prophet Hosea exhorts us to seek new opportunities to promote God’s work by breaking up our fallow ground. (Hosea 10:12) The hope of eternal life in God’s fully established kingdom will be the lot of all who are rich towards God, by His grace. – Hebrews 6:9, 10; 1 Timothy 6:17, 18.
