Theme: THE GOLDEN RULE

Text: “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men.” – Acts 24:16.

Comment: In practicing the Golden Rule, Christians are expected to have good conscience in their dealings and relationship with one another. As stated in the main text for the day, Apostle Paul exhorts us to endeavour to please God by our conduct and do things that will not harm, hurt or offend others.  “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”. (Hebrews 12:14) The example of Saint Paul is apt, as it is written: “And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day”. (Acts 23:1; 2 Timothy 1:3. See also 1 Samuel 12:1-5) We should not neglect the problems of others but we should empathize with them and endeavour to see to their well-being with good conscience. – 1 Timothy 1:5; Romans 12:9.
