Text: “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” – Colossians 3:12, 13.
Comment: The value of tolerance in the life of a Christian cannot be over stressed. It flows with other Christian virtues such as meekness, longsuffering, kindness, forgiveness, etc. as highlighted in the text for today. It should start from the home, in the relationship between the man and his wife, so that the children will copy from them and extend this way of life to the larger society. Tolerance teaches us that while we may not agree entirely with other person’s views, we should recognize the fact that they are entitled to their own opinions. – See 1 Peter 3:1-9.
