Text: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1.
Comment: Apart from the aspect of maintaining godly behaviour and cordial relationship with our fellow men, it is of vital importance that we examine ourselves in regards to what we believe, teach or do in the service of God as to know whether they are in accord with the will of God; otherwise we worship Him in vain. St. Paul declared: “Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 Timothy 4:1-5) Those who believe in false doctrines will not have life eternal. Hence, we are admonished in the text for today to be circumspect so as not to be deceived. The doctrines of God as contained in the Holy Bible are what will give people peace, comfort, safety and salvation in the end by His grace. – Deuteronomy 32:1-3; Proverbs 4:1, 2.
