Theme: BE YE ANGRY AND SIN NOT!

Text: “Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.” – Proverbs 22:24,25.

Comment: This is a timely warning coming from the wisest of his generation, King Solomon, who was under divine inspiration to admonish God’s children the world over on the sin of wrath. See James 1 :19.

The servants of Naaman, did not keep quiet when they saw that he was very angry by the instruction given him by Elisha, the prophet of God. As it is written: “But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God…” He had been told :“Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.” – 2 Kings 5:10-13.

In anger, he brazenly rejected God’s provision for his cure saying, “Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean?” But his servant, advised him thus: “My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” – 2 Kings 5:14.
