Theme: MUSIC IN GOD'S SERVICE

Text: “And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.” – Genesis 4:21.

Comment: The Bible’s first reference to music in relation to humans here on earth is that before the flood – in the seventh generation following Adah. The description about  Jubal, as stated in today’s key text, is evident of the invention of an establishment of some kind of musical profession. Harp and organ and some other musical instruments are made from material things created by God. The Psalmist declared: “All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD, and thy saints shall bless thee”. (Psalm 145:10) He added: “Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.“ (Psalm 98:5, 6) Therefore: “…Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD.” – Psalm 150:3-6.
