Theme: BUILDING NEW JERUSALEM

Text:  “And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” – Acts 13:48

Comment:  In the Scriptures, all nations apart from the Jewish nation are referred to as gentiles. In the time of Apostle Paul, the gentiles asked that the word of God be preached to them, and this they received with gladness, as seen in the text for today.

The word of God in truth is the only way to salvation as stated in 1 Timothy 2:3,4.  The word of God is of benefit to man because it exposes man to the requirements of God so that he is able to examine himself and repent. (Psalm 4:4, 5; 119: 9,11)  It is filled with encouraging words and stories to motivate us in righteousness and faith. (Romans 10:17)  It tells us how to comport ourselves in life and avoid the snares of the devil that may attempt to derail our faith or make our lives unfruitful hence the word of God is said to be a lamp to our path, (Psalm 119:105)  It is from the word of God man is able to have knowledge of Jehovah, the Almighty God, and His Son Jesus Christ, which is essential for salvation, (John 17:3)  Anyone who has the grace of being called into this true way which is part and parcel of New Jerusalem needs to appreciate it.  The realization of this grace spurs one to reason on how he or she can contribute his or her quota to the growth of the Kingdom work. – 1 Corinthians 3:12-15.
