Text: “Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth”. – Proverbs 5:7.
Comment: Replete in the Holy Scriptures are instances of persons who heeded to the instructions of God, and were blessed by Him, as well as those who chose to follow the dictates of their hearts, and how it brought them ruin. Like the case of Saul, disobedience often brings avoidable consequences, regrets, and worst of all, death, hence he was told by the Prophet Samuel: “…Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. …Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” (1 Samuel 15:22, 23) It is manifest therefore, that rejection of the word of God brings ruin while complete and unconditional submission brings manifold blessings and salvation by God’s grace. – Job 36:9-12.
