Theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

Text: “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shall find it after many days.” – Ecclesiastes 11:1.

Comment: Our contributions to the growth and development of the work of God will not be forgotten and will not go unrewarded. The Bible says that God will not forget our labours in His Service: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Hebrews 6:10) God Almighty will surely reward us through Jesus Christ according to our works. (Matthew 16:27; Rev 22:12) St. Paul stated that each of us will reap the reward that is commensurate or equal to the works we have done in God’s Service when he said: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6, 7.

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL

Introduction: By way of reciprocating God’s goodness, David, a king and prophet in Israel, made the declaration: “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night”. (Psalm 92:1, 2) Knowing full well that our Maker is self-sufficient, requiring neither food nor water for His existence, how then shall we, on the receiving end, bless Him Who is the Source of blessings? Simply put, we bless God Almighty by giving in return, His blessings on us, in order to promote His kingdom work. All who have tasted of God’s goodness, owe Him a duty of reciprocation by using our resources and the entirety of our being to both honour Him and foster the course of truth and righteousness.
