Theme: THE VOICE OF CONSCIENCE

Text: “And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor, and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.” “And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour and love no false oath. For all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.” – Zechariah 7:10; 8:17.

Comment: The spate of inhuman behaviour and conduct by some people against fellow humans has assumed an alarming dimension in recent times. Heartless individuals abduct innocent folks at night and even in daylight and hold them hostage for a ransom payment. Some still take the lives of their helpless victims even after collecting payment from traumatized relatives of the victims. Others are raped, dehumanized, and tortured for no just cause. How about those who kill adults and children for ritual purposes? Yet some take the lives of their victims to harvest their internal body organs for pecuniary trade. Still, some abduct and rob unsuspecting commuters in what has become famously known as ‘one chance’. These evil men have lost all sense of human feelings and the fear of God. No wonder the Bible pronounces woe upon such evil persons (Micah 2:1, 2) All those who take delight in perpetuating evil against their fellow human beings lack a pure conscience because they are of the devil. (John 8:44) Their end will be catastrophic unless they repent thoroughly and obtain the mercy of the LORD. – See Ezekiel 18:30-32; 33:11; 2 Peter 3:9.
