Text: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” – Ephesians 6:10, 11.
Comment: St. Paul encourages believers to put on the full armour of God because “…we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12) He mentioned various pieces of armour such as the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:12-18) By putting on this armour, believers can be equipped to resist the Devil and avoid sins by God’s grace. St Paul further emphasizes the importance of putting on the whole armour when he stated: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” – 2 Corinthians 10:3,4.
