Theme: Christians and Vows

Text: “And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.” – 2 Chronicles 15: 12, 14.

Comment: For a long time, the nation of Israel under Asa, the king was “without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law” until Azariah was stirred by the Spirit of God to tell the people that, “The LORD is with you, while ye be with him, and if ye seek him, he will be found of you, but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you”. (2 Chronicles 15:2) At the prompting of Asa, the people destroyed all their abominable idols in the land and rededicated themselves to the worship of the true God. King Solomon declared:

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13) “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword.” (Isaiah 1:19, 20) We pray God to help us repent of our sins to attract His blessings and favour on us.
