Text: “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” – Hebrews 13:14.
Comment: The path to life eternal is fraught with distractions by way of sinful pleasures on the one hand, and buffetings by way of afflictions, both at the instance of our chief adversary, the devil, but “Though the way be far and narrow, and the foes may try to hurt, march on bravely, heroes of Christ, since God’s will you choose to do”. Perhaps, if Lot and his two daughters “had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.” (Hebrews 11:15) Not even the demise of their wife and mother could deter them from making it to the mountain. On our part, no sin is too pleasurable, nor any trial insurmountable as to frustrate our determination to make it to the promised land, instead, “Our burdens on Thee we will cast as pilgrims in a desert land; For, as a Star of Hope Thou art to guide our homeward pilgrimage” by the grace of GOD. Therefore, being “pilgrims in a sinful world on pilgrimage to ‘Paradise’, may Onward March be our watchword, remembering the fall of Lot’s wife.”
