Theme: THE DANGER OF INTERFAITH

Text: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” – Colossians 2:8.

Comment: In the text above, apostle Paul warned the Colossian Christians to beware of philosophers in their subtle way of deceit with their oratory, leaning on traditions of men and after the rudiments of the world, thereby mixing the word of God with the opinions of men. Apostle Paul also advised Timothy, his spiritual son concerning these false teachers on this wise: “O Timothy keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.” – 1 Timothy 6:20,21.

False teachings abound today as it was in the time of the apostles. (2 Peter 2:1-3). Many preach falsehood from the pulpits, many preach philosophies, traditions, myths and doctrines of prosperity. We should be careful of what we listen to, what we see on televisions, what we hear on radios and the Christian religious literatures we read. Let us not be deceived by their fair speeches full of enticing words of man’s wisdom because believing in them puts us in danger of interfaith. – Romans 16:18;  1 Timothy 6:20,21.
