Text: “Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?” – Lamentations 3:39.
Comment: That one is practicing the righteousness of God does not immune him from temptations. (1 Thessalonians 3:3-5; Acts 14:22; 2 Timothy 3:12) However, as the leading text indicates, one should not be seen suffering for sins he or she had committed. “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” (1 Peter 4:15, 16; 2:19-21) Worshippers of God are therefore expected to examine themselves whenever they encounter challenges and see to it that they are not suffering as a result of their sins. (2 Corinthians 13:5, 6) They should sincerely and thoroughly repent of their sins so as to gain God’s mercy, forgiveness and deliverance. – 2 Chronicles 7:14; Proverbs 28:13, 14.
