Theme: INTEGRITY
Text: “Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.” – Deuteronomy 25:13.
Comment: Lack of integrity makes people to commit acts of immorality, dishonesty, and insincerity. Being a “God of truth and without iniquity”, the Almighty Father gave laws to debar His children from acting dishonestly in their trade or businesses as well as relationships with one another. (Leviticus 19:35-37) Expatiating on the text for today, King Solomon stated, “A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” (Proverbs 11:1, 3; 20:10, 23) The Almighty God warns against all acts of dishonesty in our daily living such as infidelity in marriages, deceit and lie telling in business transactions, defrauding one’s neighbour, stealing, etc., as they are perpetuated by those who lack integrity. – Leviticus 19:11-13.
