Theme: THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Text: “And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee and thou shall prophesy with them and shall be turned into another man”.  – 1 Samuel 10:6.

Comment: The power of God to use humble people, regarded as common to do wonderful things is highlighted several times in the Holy Bible. After Saul had been anointed, “God gave him another heart” and he started manifesting the fruits of the spirit. (1 Samuel 10:9) He preached the word of God so well that many people were surprised and asked: “Is Saul also among the prophets?” (1 Samuel 10:12) God also used him to defeat the Ammonites, thus convincing the people of his abilities as a leader. They even asked: “Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us?” – 1 Samuel 11:1-13.

After the famous battle with Goliath, Saul sought to know who David was, but his lieutenants did not know, until inquiries were made. Even his father Jesse did not present him to Samuel when the prophet came to anoint one of his children to be king over Israel. An urgent message had to be sent to fetch David, the youngest son, from the fields where he was looking after sheep. -1 Samuel 16:1-13.

Gideon felt he could not lead the people because his family was poor and he was the least in his father’s house. But the angel told him: “Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.” – Judges 6:15, 16. Once we have a good heart condition, God will use us to do wonderful things, regardless of our status, by His grace. – 1 Corinthians 1:26-29.
