Theme: ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF GOD

Text: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Comment: The phrase ‘Abounding in the work of the Lord’ talks about being abundant or plentiful, going beyond, or producing in large quantities. The work of the Lord refers to the various activities required in moving the work of God forward despite any challenge we may face. Having completed the main thrust of his letter, Apostle Paul brings his instruction and teaching to a formal conclusion. In the following, final chapter of 1st Corinthians, he turns his attention to several other issues. Considering all he has written to them; he urges the Corinthians to be strong and faithful. More specifically, he tells them he loves them, referring to them as beloved. Then he gives them several quick, uplifting commands. He warmly encouraged fellow believers to abound in the work of God. – Galatians 6:4, 9, 10.
