Text: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105.
Comment: A “light” is something that illuminates and makes vision possible while a “lamp” is a device that produces light or illumination. Symbolically, “light” and “lamp” are used to indicate that the word of God gives spiritual enlightenment that provides direction to our life and conduct. (Psalm 19:7-11) King Solomon said: “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life”. (Proverbs 6:23) It is imperative that we should follow the direction of the path of light so as to obtain life by the grace of God. “But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” – Ephesians 5:13, 14. See also John 3:19-21.
