Theme: THE SECRET OF TRUE PROSPERITY

Text: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” – Joshua 1:8.

Comment: It is good to meditate on what we hear and read from the Scriptures. This will enable one to grow spiritually and otherwise. (James 1:25; Romans 10:17) And such ones are not easily led into evil practises for filthy lucre’s sake.  King Solomon counsels us thus: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave … We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path.” – Proverbs 1:10-15.

Truly, it is those who trust in God Almighty and conduct themselves as written in His word that the Creator will bless with the bounties of the earth. Jeremiah the prophet was inspired to write: “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7, 8) May God lift his countenance upon us and prosper His word in our lives.
