Theme: GOD'S WORD - A LAMP TO MY FEET

INTRODUCTION:

In a world rapidly declining in godliness, giving way for human philosophies and satanic-inspired doctrines to hold sway, God’s word remains a guide to those who are irritated by the filthiness of the ungodly. Such ones, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, are resolute in their insistence to keep themselves unspotted. In the words of King David: “Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.” (Psalm 119:104, 163) No doubt, all who go through the pages of the scriptures, meditate, and allow the principles therein to both overwhelm and influence their conduct, by observing to do “according to all that is written therein” shall have prosperity, good success, and at the end, obtain life eternal by the grace of God. – Joshua 1:8; Psalm 19:11.

Text: “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” – Proverbs 14:34.

Comment: The destruction of our world is as certain as is imminent. Today, many human societies, organizations, countries, etc., develop their traditions, laws and constitutions using biblical principles, such as laws abhorring adultery, fornication, murder, stealing, etc. Of a truth, godly inspired laws and traditions make for progress, promote peaceful coexistence, by the grace of God. In contrast, vices as “swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery,” promote violence on the earth, because they negate Bible ideals and will definitely cause the earth to mourn, “because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.” Personifying the wisdom of God, the Bible states: “But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” (Proverbs 8:36) The benefits of acquiring the word of God, will only come when we depart from evil. (Proverbs 16:6) They include assured protection (Proverbs 14:26, 27), a sense of fulfillment with our lot in life, (Proverbs 19:23) peace, riches, honour, and length of days. – Proverbs 3:1, 2, 16-18; 22:4.
