Theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

Text: “For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother: his blood shall be upon him.” – Leviticus 20:9.

Comment: The Bible gives the understanding that elderly persons should be respected. (Leviticus 19:32) Some children make abusive and insulting statements to their fathers, mothers or other elderly persons. Such children are sowing bad seeds and they will definitely reap them. In Bethel in those days, 42 children followed after Elisha the prophet and mocked him with abusive words due to his bald head. The 42 children immediately reaped the reward for such disrespect when two she-bears came out of the bush and killed all of them. Not one of them escaped nor returned home ever again. (2 Kings 2:23, 24) King Solomon warned: “There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother… The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.” – Proverbs 30:11, 17; 20:20.
