Text: “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” – Psalm 130:3, 4.
Comment: Our righteousness at best, could be likened to “filthy rigs” as there is “not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Isaiah 64:6; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Psalm 14:3; 143:2) God Whom we serve, knows our frailty. “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:8-14) On our part, we should realize that God’s goodness in forgiving us, is a call to repentance. – Romans 2:4.
