Theme: Some Noble Christians of the Bible

Text: “Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.” – Philippians 2:25.

Comment: Epaphroditus was a dedicated and honest worshipper of God at Philippi who was sent on errand by the congregation with gifts to Paul who was then under house arrest in Rome. (Philippians 4:18) Epaphroditus fell seriously sick and this grieved Paul as seen in the text for today. He further said: “For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.” (Philippians 2:26. 27) He was a man of devotion, seeking the interest of others more than his own. He was faithful and selfless in his service. We should therefore, emulate the character of Epaphroditus who gave himself for the sake of the kingdom of God.
