Text: “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” -Psalm 50:14, 23.
Comment: Of a truth, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High”. (Psalm 92:1) In addition to offering the “sacrifice of praise to God continually,” King David says he would pay his vows to God, in the presence of God’s people, in appreciation for all His benefits towards him. (Psalm 116:12, 14, 17) One profound benefit of reciprocating God’s benefits by means of expression of thanks and fulfilment of our vows to Him is, it enhances the cycle already initiated by Him, that is to say, He, God Almighty, crowns us with His lovingkindness and tender mercies, and in appreciation, we show gratitude to Him by righteousness, which further opens the channel for more of His blessings. On no account should we, through act of ingratitude, terminate this cycle, God forbid! – Psalm 50:14, 15.
