Theme: THE SAVING AND HEALING POWER OF GOD ALMIGHTY

Text: “There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.” – Psalm 33:16,17.

Comment: The text for today shows that human efforts alone cannot be of any avail in times of trouble. This is because we are grossly limited in terms of capacity being human. When faced with troubles, including health challenges, we should turn to God for help, praying Him to intervene to make the medical care effective. – Psalm 33:18-20.

It is a well-known fact that despite their sophisticated equipment for making predictions, meteorologists and seismologists are sometimes completely baffled when natural disasters strike without warning. Even when commercial airliners are equipped with flight data recorders – specifically designed to reveal the cause of any accident – skilled investigators sometimes struggle for months or years to ascertain the details of why a plane actually crashed. The fact is that the world’s greatest scientists, armed with the latest equipment have found that they are helpless in the face of natural disasters. Also, efforts by scientists, statesmen and philosophers to improve human well-being are creating other problems in the world. Take for instance the concept of globalization, which is said to help in the alleviation of hunger and poverty. The fact is that it has increased the spread of diseases from South to North, and from North to South. Despite the developments in science and technology, there are several ailments that man has no cure.

The Bible says unequivocally that “Salvation belongeth unto the LORD” and that “He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.” – Psalm 3:8; 68:20.
