Theme: AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES

Text: “O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke”. – Jeremiah 15:15.

Comment: There are some today, who oppress others and still paint a picture that gives the impression that they are the ones practising righteousness. Such ones have no prick of conscience. Using the words of Apostle Paul, their hearts or consciences are seared with hot iron. (1 Timothy 4:1). They are masters of deceit. Because they would not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved, God Almighty forsakes them and the devil, sends them strong delusions, that they believe lies, thinking that they are directed by the spirit of God, whereas they have become agents of darkness and heading for damnation. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Concerning such ones, our Saviour Jesus Christ stated: “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service”. – John 16:2.

The Prophet Jeremiah in the text for today, prayed God Almighty to send comfort to those that suffer at the hands of such oppressors. God knows His children and sees all those who suffer for righteousness sake and He has promised to remember them as He remembered the Jews of old and came to their aid, taking vengeance on their adversaries. – Exodus 2:24; Psalm 106:4.

Let all those who suffer for righteousness sake, therefore, take comfort and wait on God their Comforter. – 1 Peter 2:20; 3:14,17; 4:15,16,19.
