Theme: BIBLE PERSPECTIVES ON LEADERSHIP

Text: “And even though Jesus was God’s Son, he had to learn from experience what it was like to obey, when obeying meant suffering.  It was after he had proved himself perfect in this experience that Jesus became the Giver of eternal salvation to all those who obey him.” – Hebrews 5:8, 9 (The Living Bible).

Comment: God Almighty Himself chooses the best leaders.  Prior to their selection for whatever position, He puts them through rigorous training by way of diverse experiences to prepare them for the task when the time is due. This was true of Jesus Christ. He worked with his earthly guardian, Joseph, as a carpenter until the age of 30 after which he stayed in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights and was tempted by the devil several times. David spent many years as a shepherd boy, faced threats of death as he was pursued from place to place by King Saul, had years of uncertainty. (Psalm 78:70-72) Moses had to flee from the comfort of life in the palace to live as a shepherd in the land of Midian for 40 years before he was called.  These experiences prepared them for their respective assignments.
