Theme: LORD, WHO SHALL ABIDE IN THY TABERNACLES?

Text: “And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it  shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.” – Isaiah 35:8.

Comment: Just as commuters or drivers of automobiles are advised to obey road signs/traffic rules, so the people of God are enjoined to act within the bounds of God’s statutes, if they are to make it to the end, successfully. God’s holy hill or organization is a path that leads to life. It is regimented, and hence, gives no room for disorderliness, chaos, or self-will. (Proverbs 3:5, 7; 26:12; 1 Corinthians 14:33, 40) The “unclean” are persons who deprive themselves of the cleansing effect of the truth, by persisting in unrighteousness even after coming to the way of holiness. “Wayfarers” in this regard describe those who are able to detach themselves of every pleasure and vices which may serve as distractions or impediments in the onward march to the promised land. They are seen as “fools”, not according to Bible standards but by the ungodly who despise their determination to run away from sin, so as not to end up as castaways.
